Weekly News

21st December 2025 Men's Club Notes

It was the week before Christmas week and the golf club was busy! There were Christmas lunches, Christmas Prizes presentation night for the ladies Club and the weather wreaked havoc with our opportunities to golf. But indoors was warm and welcoming.

Our Senior Men didn't get out for golf either on Thursday due to the rain, but our gentlemen were more than happy to sit and have their weekly catch up in the clubhouse, cosy and in the form for devilment. Like all of us, they are looking forward to brighter days out on the course.

Upcoming Events: 28th Dec is our club members scramble,  get your names into Sunday's timesheet before Saturday 27th, so games can line up the teams ahead of the shotgun start. Teams draw will be done on Saturday evening based on the names in Sunday's timesheet.

We hope to see a large crowd on the day where new members will take the opportunity to meet existing members from the men's and ladies clubs in what will be a very sociable event.

The entry fee is €15 which includes the competition entry fee and Soup and Sandwiches afterwards .

Please come in early (from 10 to 10.30) so that you register your arrival and meet your team members before the start.

There will be a prize giving immediately afterwards, so why not come along and join in the fun!

New Year's Day,  January 1 2026, is an Open 3 person scramble, and timesheet is filling up, so check out the website, we put a button on the home page for you to get straight to the booking sheet.

Teams will be selected and posted on the Master Scoreboard on the Sunday 11th of January with the competition starting on Monday 12th January in tandem with the Winter Sweeps. The competition will be run over the first 9 holes in play on each given day. Men's Club Interclub Teams:

In order to help with the Team selection for our various Interclub teams, we hope to run qualifiers over separate weekends in April for the Murray Fourball and the Moloney Foursomes. Thirty two pairings will qualify for the knockout stages of each competition with prizes for the leading qualifiers and the usual prizes for the outright winners and runners up. There are valuable Golfer of the Year points available for these Matchplay competitions also.

We had a sharp frost on Tuesday but were able to open at 11.30. Winner on the day was Pallasgreen's Maurice Power with a great score of 33 points for thirteen holes.

There were a number of players chasing down the leader. Last week's winner, Pat Sheehy was second with 32 points, Ger Heelan continues on a great vein of form with 32 points also. The domination of Limerick players continues!
