30th November 2025 Ladies Notes

The Senior Ladies were out in force once again for their social golf on Monday morning, and these diamonds were very much on the fairway.

November 24th was a cold start, but the scramblers team of Brigid Shearman, Hanora Cahill Connery and Kathleen Taylor emerged to top the board. Well done to all who took part.

Remember that the Senior ladies play their social golf on Monday mornings and everyone is welcome.

Upcoming Events:

Wednesday 3rd December & Sunday 7th December: Both days will be a 10 hole club day.

The winter league also continues, with the last day for submission being Sunday 7th December.

There will be a presentation of prizes on the 17th of December in the clubhouse, where we will have our Christmas party night, with both a putting competition and the annual Christmas jumper competition..

The ladies held a coffee morning for St. Vincent De Paul on Sunday 30th November and it was very well supported, thank you kindly to everyone who came along & donated, it is most certainly appreciated.

On the podium this week:

Wednesday 26th November 2025 - 10 Hole Stableford Turkey competition. Once more into the breach, Lady President Josie Dunne was aiming high for another voucher for the Christmas dinner, closely tailed by Josephine O'Donnell. Now with our LP Josie Dunne already with two turkeys, her 4 shot cut impacted on her chance of the top prize. Josephine O'Donnell also with a 2 shot handicap for winning a turkey earlier in the month was usurped by her sister Ann English who finally goes home with a Turkey Voucher with 23 points over 10 holes. Mary Crowe came in second place, getting the hamper with the cranberry sauce.

Super golf played again, with the course holding up exceptionally in the challenging weather we've been having.

2025 Roundup Vol.2 Three "Hole in One" Successes and our big Charity days

Over the course of this year, in quite close succession, we had three ladies get a hole in one.

On the 3rd June Una Bohan was playing in a Galtee Cup match against Barbara Leahy and she got her Hole in 1 on the 13th hole, when we asked how it all came about Una said "I hit a good shot that tracked towards the hole, we watched it and initially thought it had gone to the back of the green. When we couldn't find it we looked in the hole and there it was" and Una won the match on that hole.

On the 3rd August 2025 Joanne Horgan achieved her Hole in 1 on the 5th hole. When asked to describe her shot she responded with "I actually didn’t see it go in, I was bending down to pick up the tee when Colm and Paddy O'Shea said that it looked like it’s gone into the hole. They weren’t sure so I didn’t get too excited in case they were wrong. So we started walking down to the green, we couldn’t see the ball on the green so Colm walked straight to the hole to find it."

Kate Nicholson got her Hole in 1 on the 6th August 2025 on the 7th hole and asking her how she achieved such a masterful shot, she said "I did what I do every time I step up on that tee box, I hit and hope" and it worked for her.

Charity Days: Every year the ladies club supports the Irish Kidney Association, and we also have our member Mary Riordan and her daughter Marian Riordan, who generously sponsor a Play in Pink Open competition each year.

These are two massive days for the ladies club and we are really proud and appreciative of all the sponsorship and support given for these days. Between competition prizes and raffle prizes, there is always a big turn out for such amazing causes that are close to the member's hearts.

Happy golfing

In an historic triumph for Tipperary Golf Club, the women’s Junior Cup team were crowned the 2025 All-Ireland Junior Cup Champions after a stunning run that began in June and culminated in a thrilling national final win over Portstewart.

The journey began on 22 June, when the Tipperary ladies teed off their campaign in the Munster East Junior Cup, facing off against Tramore away in the first round. Displaying resilience and composure, they secured a solid 4-1 win to set the tone for the weeks ahead.
Their momentum continued into the second round with a dominant performance over the Gold Coast at home securing a 4-1 win on the 26 July. With confidence building, they entered the Munster East Semi-Final on the 16 th August , where they faced a strong Monkstown side on their home course. In what many dubbed one of the most tactically disciplined matches of the competition, Tipperary Golf Club emerged victorious over the home team with a 4-1 win which would take them through to the final the following day again in Monkstown.

The Munster East Final against Macroom was a battle of nerves and shot-making prowess. Rising to the occasion, the Tipperary Golf Club team produced another commanding display to become Munster East Champions, earning their place among the country’s elite in the All-Ireland series with a 3.5-1.5 win bringing home a Women's Junior Cup Munster East pennant to the club that night where the club celebrated the milestone.

The All-Ireland Quarter-Final took the team north to Tandragee on 05 September, where they met Co. Armagh. Unfazed by the pressure or travel, the Tipperary ladies held firm to progress to the Semi-Final with a 3-2 win. The following morning facing difficult playing conditions for the day, the Tipperary Golf Club ladies met a determined Dundalk side.

With national glory within touching distance, the Tipperary Golf Club team displayed grit and consistency to book their place in the final with another 3-2 win.

The All-Ireland Final against Portstewart proved to be the perfect stage for Tipperary Golf Club’s crowning moment. In front of an enthusiastic crowd and under immense pressure, the team delivered a clinical and courageous performance, securing their place in history as 2025 Women’s All-Ireland Junior Cup Champions.

Captain Kathleen praised the squad's teamwork, saying: "Every single match was a battle, and every player gave it everything throughout the tournament . We’ve had an incredible summer, and I couldn’t be prouder of this team. To bring this title home to Tipperary is truly special."
Club officials, members, and supporters have lauded the achievement as one of the greatest in the club’s history. The victory not only shines a light on the depth of talent within the Tipperary women’s ranks but also reinforces the club’s growing reputation on the national stage.
