I was born in Ardane Bansha, one of a family of four, not far from Tipperary Golf Club. I am twenty one years a member and joining the Club is by far one of the best decisions I have made.
When I joined Tipperary Golf Club one of the elder members of the Club took me to task to teach me the etiquette of golf and I will always remember his wise words when he said, “Remember Bernard, golf is not only good for the body but it is also good for the mind”. This truly is the case with golf. In the course of a round you can go from elated to frustrated or visa-versa and back again, such are the challenges of the game. There is nothing better after a round than to meet in the Clubhouse over a coffee or a meal and talk about the birdies, the pars or the ones that got away.
We are very lucky to have such a friendly and welcoming Club where members give freely of their time and energy, though not professionals, to ensure the Club’s smooth running. One of my aims during the year is to foster and develop this mind-set, an attitude which defines Tipperary Golf Club.
